Why JA

THE PILLARS OF Junior Achievement:
- WORK READINESS
- ENTREPRENEURSHIP
- FINANCIAL LITERACY
At no time in recent history has the need for financial literacy and economic education been more evident. With the media constantly relaying stories of home foreclosures and savings lost, we are quickly reminded of the risks from poor personal financial management. These issues touch people of all walks of life but leave the financially uneducated the most vulnerable.
With over 47 years of experience in the Southwestern Indiana and Southeastern Illinois communities, Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana provides economic education for students of all economic levels through partnerships with educators and volunteers. The proven result of Junior Achievement (JA) programs is youth having an increased understanding of our economic system – including the current financial crisis – and how to avoid making similar mistakes in the future.
JA has reached over 22,000 students in 2010-2011school year in a 13 county service area with our relevant economic education programs. We believe as a community, we can start inspiring tomorrow’s leaders to make successful choices today and own their future economic success.
We continue to inspire future leaders of tomorrow with unparalleled hands-on and interactive programs throughout the service area. We invest in the future of our community through educating and inspiring young people to value free enterprise, business and economics in order to improve the overall quality of their lives.
