A Message from the President
Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana is fulfilling its mission of inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. JA is changing the futures of students in Southwestern Indiana and Southeastern Illinois every day. The 2011-2012 school year has been our most successful to date. With the help of more than 800 volunteers and numerous contributions, we were able to serve nearly 23,000 students in our 11 county service area as well as expand our reach in high school grade levels.
Junior Achievement programs continue to increase in relevance as our nation continues to face a number of economic challenges and declining graduation rates. We continue to teach the youth in our communities work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills. Efforts toward that goal include:
- Our organization has increased overall student reach by 38 percent with high school programs expanding by 37 percent over the past four years
- 28 percent overall market share
- Platinum Summit Award winner for 16 years
As we reflect on our successes, we have much to celebrate. However, we realize there is still much work to do to educate our future leaders and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. We have a big year ahead of us as we look to grow an additional 10 percent in order to meet community need. We thank you for your support and dedication to Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana.
